Many people ask why our academy is called Monkey Business English.
From the very beginning our mission has been to teach English to adults who need the language to communicate in a professional environment, so we wanted a name for our business which included the words Business English. We spent a long time playing with combinations of words looking for something which sounded catchy. At the same time we were trying to design a logo which would be easy to associate with our company name as well as being eye catching for marketing purposes.
Monkey Business is a well known expression which means fun combined with an element of naughtiness and this, we felt, depicted the way we teach our students: fun because our students enjoy their classes and naughty because we teach “adult English” which often contains elements which cannot be found in textbooks.
After all these years we are still happy with our name and our logo although most people now know our academy as “MONKEY” (pronounced /m?nke?/ instead of /m?nki:/).
